Honored for Environmental Stewardship

Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC)
Commissioner Milton H. Hamilton Jr. announced today a special honor for two
Dickson County firms. He is visiting AMHIL Enterprises and Tennsco Corporation
on March 12, 2001 to personally congratulate them for their Environmental
Stewardship Awards.
"AMHIL Enterprises and Tennsco Corporation have incorporated
environmental stewardship into policy and investment decisions," says
Commissioner Hamilton. "Our awards program is designed especially to recognize
those individuals and organizations that exhibit environmental compliance
beyond the requirements of laws and regulations. Furthermore, both of these
companies have demonstrated that economic development can take place
simultaneously with environmental compliance."
Plant Manager Marc Kelly of AMHIL Enterprises will receive a
Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation for the firm's effective process
water conservation effort and for pollution prevention practices. Tennsco
Corporation President Stuart Speyer and his firm garnered two TDEC awards last
May at the Department’s 29th Annual Solid Hazardous Waste Conference
in Gatlinburg. These awards were the Governor’s Award for Excellence in
Hazardous Waste Management, and the 2000 Industrial Pollution Prevention Award.
Following a brief presentation, Commissioner Hamilton plans to tour
both facilities. He will be accompanied by Ernie Blankenship and Louis
Bordenave of TDEC and David Hamilton, President/CEO of the Dickson County
Chamber of Commerce.
"These firms are important to the industrial economy of Dickson
County, and it is important for government at all levels to recognize those
employers who provide good places to work and who show commitment to
Tennessee’s natural environment," adds David Hamilton.
